Tech that Died in 2021

There is a famous saying that the “only constant in life is change” and that truly implies the tech industry as it is continuously evolving and changing.

If we look at 2021 at a glance we saw many changes in technology and we said goodbye to some of the most recognized technologies. Some of the most popular technologies that died in 2021 are as follows :

1 Yahoo Answers

In 2021, the era of the most nostalgic website has come to an end. The website was launched in 2005 by  Peter Yeargin, the founder, and CEO of Wynnewood-based Q&A startup Sage. The website was popular among people for its rapid and funny solutions to a variety of questions. The people use it for fun and ask senseless questions and entertain themselves with their funny answers  On May 4, 2021, the site terminated service in most languages; however, the Japanese version remains accessible.

2 LinkedIn Stories

Every social media such as Whatsapp, Facebook, and Instagram has introduced stories options as a method for their user to upload pictures, short videos, and teasers in a more engaging and exciting way than a post on the timeline. LinkedIn, however, launched the same feature for their users but failed to do so and was dismissed from the platform just one year after its launch. The main point of elimination is that the users of LinkedIn prefer the content that stays on the platform so more people engage with it rather than disappear after 24 hours.

Facebook’s Facial-Recognition System

Facebook’s Facial Recognition system which was Launched in 2010 surprisingly shut down and deleted the template it uses to recognize people in photos. The tool was launched in 2010 and is regarded as one of the Largest shifts in facial recognition usage in the technology’s history. But it came under fire as people started having concerns regarding the invasion of privacy. By matching pictures and video with databases like driver’s license information, law enforcement agencies and some businesses may identify suspects and victims. Unfortunately, the feature shut down and delete the face scan data of more than a billion users.
