Stressed at Work? Here are 5 ways to deal with Workplace Stress

Stressed at the workplace for various reasons, including a constant fear of missing deadlines, heavy workloads, organizational conflicts, and a lack of work-life balance. A recent study found that 57% of people experienced medium to high levels of burnout.

Here are 5 Ways to deal with stress at the workplace

1 Start your Day Early and Off Right:

Feeling sleep due to an incomplete sleep cycle, dodging in the traffic, and skipping breakfast cause you are getting late at the work and already stressed before you arrive at work. Start your day off with planning, good nutrition, and a positive attitude and you will notice that the stress rolls off your back easily.

2 Organize your Workspace and Schedule:

Taking control of your environment and schedule can prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and stressed unnecessarily.

When it comes to your schedule, figure out what you can control (such as when to take your lunch break or the order in which you’ll complete certain tasks) and what is set in stone (the meeting with your boss, for example). This will help you manage your time more efficiently and maintain as much control as possible over your everyday routines.

3 Tune into Distractions:

Noisy office environments can be difficult to cope with, but strangely enough, trying to block out the conversation that’s happening two desks over or ignore the sound of your colleague tapping their pen on the table may actually be more stressful than paying attention to it.

According to the Mind health expert Dr. Danny Penman, tuning in to a distraction can prevent you from feeling stressed out. This is because being aware of a distraction and observing the effect it has on your body (tense muscles, clenched jaw, etc) tends to rob it of its power and helps you to relax

4. Seek renewal. Curiosity and discovery are key to growth and learning – and these can help you recharge. This renewal can come in the form of a simple walk in the middle of the day or taking on a familiar task with a new ‘growth mindset’. A constant learning attitude can help keep you thinking in fresh ways and help you connect with what you like most in your work.

Try something new every day that freshens your mind and makes you more productive and energetic toward your goals

5 Talk about your Stress and needs with your Supervisor:

It’s often the responsibility of the employee to speak up if something in their work environment is causing them undue stress. Perhaps you have a conflict with another employee or maybe you feel overwhelmed by your workload.  Don’t be afraid to address these issues with your superior. If the issues causing the stress will not be addressed in a timely manner, It will increase the stress leading to a decrease in productivity and overall performance in the organization.

Remember you can’t avoid the stress entirely if the stress challenges you and recharges you to perform better than the previous day then this stress plays a big part and helps you in maintaining and finding joy.

So adopting a more positive attitude toward stress can help you to deal with it more effectively, it could also transform your stress into something good that enhances your performance, health, and personal growth.
